Our Mission

Guide Dogs of the Desert provides mobility, companionship, and independence for the blind with custom-trained Guide Dogs. These life-changing partnerships are formed to meet the individual needs of each handler and their Guide Dog.

A yellow labrador retriever is laying down in a Guide Dogs of the Desert guide dog harness. She has her chest out an dhead tilted up looking forward. The image cuts off at her shoulders so you can not see the positioning of her legs or feet.

Independence is Priceless

All of our Guide Dogs are provided free to our students. Their extensive training is funded by your generous donations and countless hours of volunteer efforts.

Training for Students

Once a student is matched with a Guide Dog, they attend a 28 day training course where they learn all aspects of living and working with their new Guide Dog.

A gentleman in a plaid shirt with khaki pants is seated, wearing a dark head and facing forward. To his left a black standard poodle is sitting in a Guide Dogs of the Desert guide dog harness. She is also facing forward, ears perked.
