Be a part of the mission – help Guide Dogs of the Desert
Volunteer Opportunities with Guide Dogs of the Desert
- Puppy Raisers support: Puppy Raisers take 3-month-old puppies into their homes until
they reach 18-22 months of age. Our Puppy Raisers share their love and time to help a
visually impaired person by giving guide dog puppies a special upbringing. With continual
support and guidance from our certified trainers, Puppy Raisers provide obedience and
manners training that serve as the foundation for future guide dog training.
Guide Dogs of the Desert Campus support: Volunteer on an ongoing basis to welcome
visitors at the reception desk or conduct tours of the campus. Volunteer at the Puppy Den to
play with the puppies. Become a member of our Ambassadors Group – a group of volunteers
trained to speak to service clubs, community groups and schools. Volunteer to support
community outreach efforts to increase awareness of who we are, what we do, how we do it
and how people can help.
Specialty volunteer support: Have a special talent of skill you think that we might need?
Are you an attorney, teacher, artist, baker or recreation specialist? Let us know your talents
and skills to devote to a special project to support our students and our mission.
Youth Volunteer Opportunities: Students 16 to 18 years old with community service
volunteer hours to contribute. Scouts and service groups with a focused volunteer project.
