Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Volunteer Today

There are countless ways to get involved with Guide Dogs of the Desert. We have needs for volunteers in a number of different capacities in different areas. Our mission is possible because of your generosity and support!

Different Ways to Get Involved

Community Volunteers are a valuable part of our operations at Guide Dogs of the Desert. These volunteers do everything from administrative tasks to outreach preparations, and even helping out with puppies in our nursery and puppy den! We also have off-site events where volunteers table, educate, and represent Guide Dogs of the Desert. Some of these include the Palm Springs Villagefest, the College of the Desert Street Fair, and the La Quinta Farmer's Market, and so much more.

To get started, please register and fill out our application on Bloomerang, our Volunteer Tracking service.

Puppy Raisers are volunteers who bring young puppies into their home at about 3 months old up until about 18 months old. With you, they will learn their basic training under specific parameters. Our team will teach you how to properly train the fundamental skills necessary for the puppies in their future work.

Breeder Hosts are volunteers who provide a loving home for the dogs in our on-site breeding program. To apply, to learn more, or for more information about how to get involved with becoming a breeder host, please contact our Director of Medical, Angel Coleman at (760) 329-2372 or acoleman@gddca.org.
