Miranda Martinez & Raja: A Puppy Raiser Story

Miranda Martinez & Raja: A Puppy Raiser Story

My name is Miranda Martinez, and I am a second-year student at Cal State LA. My journey as a puppy raiser from Guide Dogs of the Desert began during my junior year of high school. I was inspired by my sister, who is part of the medical team at GDD. The day I was given my puppy Raja was thrilling and unforgettable; it marked the start of a new and rewarding adventure.

Raja is a yellow female Labrador. Without her vest, she was short and spunky, full of energy and personality. However, once her vest was on, she transformed into a model of good behavior. Together, Raja and I joined a vibrant community of fellow puppy raisers, sharing our experiences and learning from one another from. Being a puppy raiser has been a great experience for me and I know that she will be helping someone in the future no matter what her job is. Raja and GDD has given so much support that I can’t wait to raise another Puppy in Training.

I couldn’t be anymore thankful for Guide Dogs of the Desert and the journey with my 4-legged friend Raja.
